Greater Boston Flute Association to host performance

—Accomplished flutist to appear May 14 in
Woburn, MA – Monday, April
25, 2005 — GBFA, a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting the greater
Boston flute community, today announced that it will host a lecture and concert
performance by noted flutist Alberto Almarza. The event, entitled “Native Flutes and
Extended Techniques,” will include a performance, lecture and demonstration exploring
the relationship between traditional flutes and the music of today.

advises that seating is limited and that all seats must be reserved. The hour-long lecture/demonstration will begin at 11
AM. There will be a lunch break, with the concert performance following at 1 PM.
Almarza’s versatility and musicianship have led him to perform and record
some of the most adventurous and challenging pieces from the music of today as
well as works from the standard repertoire and Baroque literature on period
instruments. In addition to teaching at Carnegie Mellon, Mr. Almarza is also a
resident artist and member of the faculty at The Jeanne Baxtresser
International Master Class at the
